Munibung Creek - project update - July 2023

Published 11 July 2023

We’re excited to share with you that we are a step closer to rehabilitating Munibung Creek.

To help us plan for construction for the creek’s rehabilitation, we've engaged expert state government agency Soil Conservation Service (SoilCon) to carry out investigations along the southern section of the creek.

These investigations will provide more information about site conditions and constraints, how we can minimise known risks, and identify new creek boundaries.

About the work

While SoilCon are working, you may see them removing weeds with machinery, drilling boreholes to collect soil samples and carrying out site surveys. There may be some noise, dust and vibration during the work.

SoilCon will also be setting up a temporary site compound between 87 and 89 Lachlan Road to store their equipment for the duration of these works.

While most investigations will take place within existing Hunter Water easements along the creek, we may need to access some private properties. If we need to access your property, we’ll let you know in advance.

Our aim is to minimise inconvenience to you, and we thank you for your patience during this work.

Our work schedule

Work will start from the week commencing Monday 17 July and will take about six weeks to complete, assuming the weather is fine and there are no major issues.

Most activity will be carried out from 7am until 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 1pm, weather permitting. If we need to work outside these times, we will let you know.

Next steps

Once these investigations are complete, we’ll be able to confirm the scope of the project and provide a timeline for the remaining works. We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.

In the meantime, we are here to help and answer any questions you may have about these works. Please contact Alexis McLaren on 0473 470 650 or alexis.mclaren@hunterwater.com.au
