Munibung Creek - project update - July 2022
During our design phase we identified a number of project constraints.
We need to overcome these challenges to deliver the preferred naturalised look while also stabilising the banks on adjacent land parcels. A large amount of contaminated soil needs to be safely moved and managed for this project. We now also know that constructing a naturalised channel will require more specialised techniques than initially anticipated and we continue to work with Council, designers and our potential construction partners to understand the full extent of this work.
As a result, the project will take longer to deliver, and cost more to build.
Given the increased timeframes and costs, the project will need to go through an additional approval process within our organisation.
This approval process must demonstrate how additional investment in this project adds value to the community and our customers, and aligns with our broader strategic investment priorities. This process is consistent across all our major investments.
