What we do

Hunter Water is a State Owned Corporation (SOC), dedicated to delivering essential services including drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, and some stormwater management to more than 600,000 residents and businesses across the Lower Hunter region.

We take pride in our origins from the 1880s, when we first delivered water from a temporary pumping station on the Hunter River to the Newcastle No 1 Reservoir. Since then, we've grown significantly, continuously seeking ways to enhance our services, support development, and lead in our field.

Our employees help deliver the life our communities desire, working closely with contractors, stakeholders and the community to manage an asset base of more than $2.5 billion worth of water, wastewater and recycled water infrastructure.
