The following major capital investment projects have now been completed representing substantial outcomes in the water and sewer infrastructure needs of the lower Hunter Region.

      Branxton Irrigation Water Scheme

      Location: Wine Country Drive, Branxton and North Rothbury

      Hunter Water has completed construction of a new 10km pipeline to provide recycled water to major golf courses and farmers within the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).
    2. Kooragang Island Thumbnail

      Kooragang Recycled Water Scheme

      Location: Mayfield West

      Timeframe: Complete

      Hunter Water has constructed the Kooragang Recycled Water Scheme to provide high quality recycled water to industrial users on Kooragang Island.
    3. Tree Planting

      Tree Planting for Carbon Offsets

      Location: Grahamstown Dam, Chichester Dam and Irrawang

      Hunter Water will plant 300,000 trees and shrubs to offset more than 80% of the 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions produced by the Lower Hunter Recycled Water Initiative.

      1. Aberglasslyn Wastewater Transfer Scheme

        Aberglasslyn Wastewater System Upgrade

        Location: Rutherford, Largs and Farley

        Timeframe: January 2012 - October 2012

        Hunter Water has upgraded the Aberglasslyn wastewater system to improve system reliability and to cater for population growth in Rutherford, Largs, Aberglasslyn and Farley.
      2. Adamstown Wastewater Transfer Upgrade Thyumbnail

        Adamstown Wastewater System Upgrade

        Location: Adamstown

        Timeframe: November 2011 - November 2012

        Hunter Water constructed a new wastewater system in Adamstown to reduce wastewater overflows and provide benefits to the local community and environment.
      3. General Operations Archives

        1. Argenton Pressure Management Thumbnail

          Location: Argenton, Lake Macquarie City Council

          Timeframe: This project will begin on 20 October 2014

          Hunter Water is managing high water mains pressure in Argenton. This will reduce water mains breaks, water lost to the environment, and will improve reliability of the water supply to customers.
        2. Wastewater System Upgrade Archives

            Beresfield to Thornton Wastewater System Upgrade

            Location: Metford, Woodberry, Thornton and Beresfield

            Timeframe: Initial planning and investigations underway until 2012

            Hunter Water plans to undertake an upgrade to the storage capacity within the wastewater system at Woodberry, Metford, Thornton and Beresfield.
          2. Boulder Bay wwtw thumbnail

            Boulder Bay Wastewater Treatment Works Upgrade

            Location: Fingal Bay

            Hunter Water has upgraded the Boulder Bay Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) to cater for projected growth on the Tomaree Peninsula and anticipated increases in loads during peak holiday periods. The upgrade will also improve the quality of biosolids leaving the site for reuse in agriculture.

            Location: Branxton

            Timeframe: Construction complete

            The Stage 3 Upgrade to the Branxton Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) has been completed.
          4. Burwood Beach Thumbnail

            Burwood Beach Wastewater Treatment Works Stage 2 Upgrade

            Location: Scenic Drive, Merewether

            Timeframe: Completed

            Hunter Water has completed the Stage 2 upgrade of the Burwood Beach Wastewater Treatment Works. Planning is also underway for a Stage 3 upgrade of the for the Burwood Beach Wastewater Treatment Works.
