St Joseph’s Primary School will proudly fly the ‘Eco School’ flag throughout the next school term after it won the latest round of the Lake Macquarie City Council (LMCC) Eco Schools – Sustainable Neighbourhoods program.

Hunter Water Corporation Managing Director Kevin Young said the program encouraged local schools to develop their own environmental projects. “The Eco Schools – Sustainable Neighbourhoods program sets a challenge for schools
and students to design and implement their own environmental programs, making them aware of their role in improving the environment,” he said.

“Hunter Water is proud to be involved with a program encouraging our youth to use water responsibly. With ongoing drought and climate change, it’s essential that our next generation develops sustainable habits.”

St Joseph’s Assistant Principal, Louise Russel, said "St Joseph's continues to place the environment first, focussing on water, waste and implementing the School Environment Management Plan in 2010."
