Minister for the Hunter, the Hon. Jodi McKay and Hunter Water’s Managing Director Kevin Young, recently launched the Hunter Water Rescue Craft, the region’s first ever patrol of elite volunteer jet ski operators working alongside surf lifesavers.
“Hunter Water has sponsored Hunter Surf Life Saving for 28 years because they provide their volunteers with ongoing, stringent training to best deliver the invaluable service of protecting Hunter beachgoers," said Mr Young.
Hunter Surf Life Saving CEO Rhonda Scruton said Hunter Water’s sponsorship provided the financial security to train the operators and operate the three, low emission jet skis as a patrol fleet for the first time ever.
“The Hunter Water Rescue Craft require significant maintenance and fuel to operate regularly, which we would simply be unable to do without Hunter Water’s support. We’re very proud of and excited about the increased safety these patrols bring to our beaches,” she said.
