People & Change
“The People and Change division provides strategic and operational human resource, health and safety and continuous improvement support in leading and driving a high performance culture.”
Joanne Martin
General Manager People and Change
These services are delivered through a team comprising 4 functions as follows:
Human Resources
We have a group of HR professionals who provide a range of operational expertise to our divisions including recruitment and selection, induction and orientation, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, payroll, succession planning, remuneration and benefits. The group also provides leadership across key business people strategies such as organisational restructuring, union/company partnership and workforce planning.
Key projects for the group include attraction and retention, enterprise agreement negotiations, skills profiling, upgrading the skills and competence of leaders and the continuous improvement of all HR policies and practices. This includes a large piece of work around the upgrading of our HR information system, including automation of a number of processes.
OH&S
This group is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of OH&S and Injury Management Systems. The group also provides OH&S support and strategic direction to the Corporation. Injury prevention and employee health and wellbeing are a priority for the OH&S Team.
Change Management
This function encompasses the development and delivery of people development and culture change strategies, ranging from corporate programmes, through to individual development support through coaching. Support is provided directly to managers and staff in all divisions to progress their development and culture change programmes.
The ICT team has two data centres – one at head office and one off-site to provide backup for these key systems.
Continuous Improvement
The primary role of this group is to establish a sustainable capability within Hunter Water to execute improvement projects using the Six Sigma methodology. This is done through cross functional teams focused on corporate objectives to optimise end-to-end processes.
Other objectives include; increasing the level of focus on internal and external customers, identifying and promoting every Hunter Water employees role in the service delivery chain to our customers and creating a data based, performance driven organisation.
